Owain Wilshaw spent his childhood making extravagantly ambitious but never completed short films, before realising his real interest lay in cinematography. In spite of this, he elected to study geology at university, only deciding it might
be possible to pursue a career in film upon realising that he had no idea how to get a proper job either.
He has spent the last ten years learning his trade in the lighting department as well as shooting comercials and short films. His first feature, Olivia, premiered at the 78th Locarno Film Festival and his second, He Kills at Night, at FRIGHTFEST 2025 in London.
He is also a keen photographer and inveterate tinkerer, often making custom tools and pieces of equipment for his work.
